User Experience Research
Come explore my work!
So .... who am I?
I am a researcher who focuses on user experience research and human-computer interactions! I was involved in academic research throughout my undergraduate and have since applied my research capabilities to advocate for better user experience in digital and physical products. My main interest is in the relationship between humans, cognition, and technology.
Why am I interested in research?
If I had to distill my opinion, I think research gives us the opportunity to be informed as well as to make informed decisions. Academic research builds and grows a field of knowledge. Meanwhile, industry research is focused on application and practicality. For any product or service to be enjoyable and usable, the user's voice must be heard and understood.
On a personal level, being engaged with research is my way of impacting the world. Whether my research is trendy or obscure, it lives on in the product and in the body of work.
Why did Ichoose Human-Computer Interactions specifically?
The idea of exploring technology from a human perspective is what captivates me - especially in a world where technology has become increasingly advanced and intertwined with people's everyday lives. Without a doubt, our society is impacted by our digital technology. How our generation communicates today is vastly different compared to previous generations. We should know how technology has shaped human behavior, and equally, we should be shaping technology around people.
Enough about work, what do I like to do for fun?
Recently, I've been in an Oathsworn campaign, a boardgame in which we do our best in a dark and gritty world. I've also been reading Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. Sometimes, you can catch me nearly burning something in the kitchen.
I'm pretty big into rock-climbing too! Generally indoors, but we went on the occasional outdoors adventure. My preference is towards bouldering. I find it less scary than top-roping, although that doesn't stop me from going on ropes too. I am also one of those people who enjoys running, which is a foreign concept to myself as well.
